Composite fillings, also called tooth-colored fillings, are designed to look natural. Unlike darker amalgam fillings, they blend with surrounding teeth. They bond to the tooth and can treat decay or repair chipped and broken teeth.
Composite fillings let your dentist preserve more of the natural tooth. The material bonds to the tooth surface, so the result is discreet.
You may be if you have a cavity, a broken tooth or a worn-out filling. A consultation can confirm whether composites suit you.
The area is numbed, and the damaged part of the tooth is removed. A resin is placed and hardened with a curing light, then shaped and polished.
You can usually return to normal activities right away. Some hot and cold sensitivity is common, but tell us if it lasts more than a week.
